CHALLENGING THE 'STATUS QUO'
Justicia Feminist Foundation, established in 2016, is Bangladesh's first legal feminist network led by young women lawyers advocating for gender justice. Bringing together intergenerational feminists from the justice sector, the network focuses on advocacy, research, law reform, and capacity building to challenge societal inequalities. Through research on issues like gender-based violence, cyber violence, and sexual and reproductive health rights, we drive evidence-based advocacy and policy reform. Additionally, we provide consultancy services in gender-based violence prevention, policy reform, and legal research, enhancing organizational impact while ensuring our financial sustainability.
Justicia Feminist Foundation envisions a society where gender justice is a reality, where the justice sector is more gender sensitive, not only towards women but also to persons with all gender identities, and fosters an enabling environment for all women from the justice sector so that they are able to use their full potential to thrive and contribute in the legal sector in a more meaningful way.
Our mission is to support initiatives and movements that are based on feminist principles in order to challenge the status quo to bring appropriate change and reform in the legal system by engaging more intergenerational feminist lawyers and justice sector actors.
Our founder, Saraban Tahura Zaman, co-authors a powerful piece on sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) for Rohingya women and girls in Bangladesh, published in Jindal Global Law Review.
